The European Medieval Colors Network is an interdisciplinary team created in 2020 as part of the European alliance Una Europa. It constitutes a space for academic exchange of professors and researchers who study the artistic, aesthetic and material values of colors in the medieval world. It aims to be a dynamic space for research projects and coordinated activities, in accordance with new epistemological paradigms.

Every culture conceives colors and defines it in accordance with its own natural environment, its own climate, its own history, its own knowledge and its own traditions. In this domain, western bodies of knowledge do not constitute absolute truths but only particular bodies of knowledge among many others. Furthermore, they are not even unambiguous.
